The Final Jerry Farr Travel Fellowship The Jerry Farr Travel Fellowship has been generously funded by the friends and family of Jerry Farr, and this year is the last. Jerry was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia at the age of nine. Sadly he passed away in 2007, but lived a very full life and enjoyed travelling all over the world. According to his brother, Jerry remained determined, positive, focused, energetic, loving and fun throughout his life.Ataxia UK is looking for people with ataxia and a sense of adventure who are interested in following Jerry’s example by broadening their horizons through travel. Travelling to a different country is, for many people, a dream come true. We would like to offer this opportunity to a person with ataxia – to give you the opportunity to experience a new, exciting journey you will never forget. This memorial fund is a way for Jerry’s spirit of adventure and love of travel to live on through the experiences of others. The winner will receive a maximum of £3,500 to cover all the pre-agreed costs of a trip for a single person, and up to £6,500 if accompaniment by a carer is required. The destination and purpose of the trip is up to you! Entrants will be judged by a panel and the closing date for entries is 12 June 2017. Applications can be received from 1 March 2017; please do not send your application in before this date. PLEASE NOTE THIS GRANT IS ONLY APPLICABLE FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UK. Please fill out the attached Application Form which also includes guidelines and send it electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org or in the post to our address at the bottom of the page.
