Keswick to Barrow and Coniston to Barrow Walks
7 May 2022
Run or walk one of the UK’s most stunning trails through The Lake District: Keswick to Barrow (K2B), or take the children along for a mini adventure, from Coniston to Barrow.
Explore the world of the romantic poets and philosophers, beautiful nature and ancient farming practices, all with the backdrop of England’s most rugged and mountainous landscape. Gather your friends, family or colleagues to create a team of between 4 - 12 members and test yourselves on a 40-mile journey through the Lakes for Ataxia UK!
Keswick to Barrow (40 miles)
Starting in Keswick, the route takes participants past the foot of Helvellyn, mountain in which King Arthur allegedly sleeps; through William Wordsworth’s Grasmere, Elterwater and The Langdales, to name but a few stunning sites; take in views of Coniston Old Man as the route passes Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin, and tackle the ascent up Kirkby Moor to the highest point of the route. Finally, head to the finish line by descending through Marton to the outskirts of Barrow-in-Furness.
The Coniston to Barrow Walk (21.1 miles)
The 21.1 mile Coniston to Barrow (C2B) Walk is also open to our younger walkers and those who would like a less rigorous route.
The challenge suits walkers and runners alike. The fastest runners complete the 40.0 mile official race in just over four hours; the majority of walkers take between eight and 12 hours.
With eight official timing checkpoints along the way, as well as free drinks, food, first aid and support, you’ll be well looked after and receive a commemorative medal at the end!
You can sign up directly with the organisers by visiting their website and contact Rebecca on rholt@ataxia.org.uk or 020 7582 1444 for more information and to let us know you'd like to take part so we can send you your Supporter Pack and t-shirt!Â
