Need more convincing on the importance of a legacy gift? Here's what our friend Dave had to say:

“I’m Dave. I was diagnosed with Cerebellar Ataxia early in 2018 when I was 53. My speech and handwriting were getting worse, and the ataxia symptoms were starting to be a problem.

Since getting in touch with Ataxia UK, I’ve always donated to them, gifting support to the ataxia community. Helping the charity helps them to continue research, and hopefully, raise awareness of the ataxias, which unfortunetly aren’t as well-known as some other conditions. Certainly, I had never heard of it until I myself was diagnosed, and I think that probably goes for a lot of people.

The same goes for legacies in wills, which is something I intend doing. Personally, I don’t have any dependants, and I want to see Ataxia UK continue its important work. I hope this will be my legacy: Supporting the continuation of Ataxia UK’s important work.

Ataxia UK, like other charities, depend on legacies as an important form of funding. In order to continue their work, financial worries are one less thing for them to focus on, and my legacy can help ease their financial burden."
