Minds In Movement: Online Art Exhibition – Ataxia

Minds In Movement: Online Art Exhibition

Minds in Movement: Ataxia UK’s Online Art Exhibition Fundraiser

Ataxia UK is excited to announce our first online exhibition fundraiser, ‘Minds in Movement’ from 4 to 31 August 2021.

The title and theme of the exhibition – movement – were chosen to shed light on ataxia, a group of neurological conditions. The ataxias affect the cerebellum: the part of the brain that controls movement and sends signals through the nervous system, causing problems with balance, co-ordination and speech, disrupting your ability to communicate and control your body. It can also affect your heart. There are many different types of ataxia and there is currently no cure.

Artists will interpret the exhibition theme in multiple ways and mediums range from painting and photography to printmaking and textiles. Those participatingboth well-established and non-established artists, include individuals who have exhibited in New York, California, South Africa and multiple London locationsSome exhibiting artists are represented by London galleries, have works in collections at the NY Public Library and Library of Congress (US) and some are also classically trained painters who have studied at Charles Cecil Atelier (Florence, Italy). Comedian Dom Joly will also be contributing a work to the exhibition!

All artworks will appear anonymously until the work is bought and every work is at a set price of £70. With numerous works to choose from, many exclusively made for Minds in Movement, we hope you’ll find a work you love whilst supporting people who live with this disruptive condition.

Minds in Movement provides an inspiring and creative way for people to reflect on how ataxia impacts an individual whilst also raising crucial funds to support those affected by ataxia and helping to fund vital research into treatments and cures.
