Introducing From Lab to Treatment

In 2023, over 300 Friends of Ataxia UK came together to raise a wonderfully festive total of over £50,000 during the Christmas Challenge week, helping fund the expansion of vital ataxia services. Your support during the 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge can help us work with pharmaceutical companies and government agencies to bring drugs to the UK.

It can also help encourage further research, and support the community while awaiting these treatments and cures. We are in a unique moment of ataxia history with the treatment pipeline fuller than ever. One drug has been approved for use in the US & EU, two are in the approval process and four more are in Phase 2 trials.

We must seize this key moment.

How does the Big Give Christmas Challenge work?

Gifts are matched from a pot which has been created by Pledgers & Champions. Pledgers come from Friends within the ataxia community without whom none of this would not be possible. This year's Champion is The Big Give Foundation.

During the Christmas Challenge week from midday Tuesday 3rd December until midday Tuesday 10th December, this pot is used to match your gift. Until this pot runs out, all gifts made during the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled.

After the match pot runs out, gifts can still be made to this appeal and are gratefully received.
