Ataxia UK CEO Sue Millman provided an update on the charity’s work and priorities, sharing what Ataxia UK had been doing to support the ataxia community and looking ahead to the work still to come.

Attendees learned more about the support available through Ataxia UK, including the ways the charity can provide information, guidance and practical support to people living with ataxia and their families.

Attendees took part in the All About Ataxia workshop, which provided information from clinicians and therapists about ataxia, how it can affect people and the challenges associated with living with the condition.

Attendees had the opportunity to take part in a Q&A with members of the specialist ataxia healthcare team, including Prof Carlo Rinaldi from the Oxford Ataxia Centre and Ataxia Nurse Camilla Notley, and ask questions about living with ataxia and accessing specialist care.

Attendees learned how occupational therapists could support people living with ataxia, including accessing OT services, adaptations and equipment, and managing fine motor skills and upper-limb function.

Attendees joined the Planning for the Future workshop, which explored important topics including wills, power of attorney, care and financial decisions, advanced directives, and hospice and palliative care.
