How do I leave a gift?

If you don’t already have a Will, we recommend that you speak to a Solicitor. They will advise you on what your Will should contain to ensure your wishes are carried out. If you decide to leave a gift to Ataxia UK, please include our name and registered charity number 1102391 / SC040607

Types of gift

There are three ways you can consider remembering Ataxia UK in your Will.

  1. A residuary gift - this is a percentage share of your estate, once other specific legacies and claims against the estate have been settled.
  2. A pecuniary gift- this is a fixed sum of money expressed as a gift in your Will.
  3. A specific item - the gift of a specific item (a car, painting, property etc.).

If you have already made a Will you can change it by asking your Solicitor to add a ‘Codicil’- a formal addition to your Will.
