Current Volunteering Roles

Support Group Leader

Branches and Support Groups are a great way to meet other people with ataxia in your local community, socialise and provide support. Currently some of our Branch and Support Groups are in need of leaders. This role is not only a great addition to your CV but makes a real difference for people living with ataxia. We are looking for volunteers who are committed, reliable, able to attend online supervisions & have at least 1 year of lived experience of ataxia in these areas:

Ayrshire, Bristol, Ipswich & Colchester, South Downs and Nottinghamshire

Clinic Volunteer (in person)

Receiving a diagnosis may feel isolating - our clinic volunteers provide a listening ear, peer support & non-clinical advice to those that have been newly diagnosed after their appointment with the consultants at the Ataxia Clinic. The volunteers will also provide support and more information to those that may have had a diagnosis for a long time but would like to learn more about the condition or the services on offer at Ataxia UK.

To ensure a seamless experience for both volunteers and those we serve, we encourage applicants residing near London. This helps minimise travel challenges for our volunteers and ensures cost-effective operations, allowing us to allocate resources more efficiently.

If you have lived experience of ataxia (including as a carer, friend or family member) and have so for 1 year, this could be the role for you!
