I was diagnosed in October 2015, and although I was showing symptoms they weren't that prevalent that they disrupted my life at the time. All the while I was looking at my brother whose symptoms were at a high to my own and kept wallowing in the fact that would eventually be me. The symptoms got worse, my relationship ended at the beginning of the diagnosis, but I found I was still reliant on my ex, life became complicated as the symptoms got worse along with other medical issues I became anxious and depressed. Then I started to use a stick and one day I looked at myself in the mirror and thought God has got far greater plans for me than what I have allowed myself to become. So I made a conscious decision to take back the life God gave me and do something great with it. I want to raise awareness for others with rare conditions like ataxia and let them know they are not alone, people care enough to raise funds to create a better life for us.
