Our Board of Trustees is made up of people who have a variety of skills and experience that contribute to the running of Ataxia UK, including people with ataxia; doctors of pharmacology and psychiatry; those who have experience in business and finance; Social Policy advisors, and members of our Branch network with Fundraising experience.
The Board meets five to six times a year; all the meetings are at a weekend, apart from our meeting in May, which is midweek. Some meetings are at our office in Highgate; one is on the Sunday morning after Annual Conference and we have two residential meetings a year (Saturday lunchtime – Sunday lunchtime) at a hotel in the Midlands.
If you would like to discuss what it involves to be a Trustee, please contact Sue Millman at the office ([email protected] or call 020 7582 1444); alternatively, she can arrange for you to have a discussion with the Chairman of Ataxia UK Trustee Board, Dr Harriet Bonney.
This year, we are seeking:
To ensure diversity of representation, we strongly wish to encourage nominations from anyone in Northern Ireland, Wales, or Scotland and from women.
Any Friend of Ataxia UK who wishes to participate in our governance and who has the skills and time to offer is encouraged to put themselves forward to serve as a Trustee. You’ll need enthusiasm for helping the charity formulate its long term strategies; a willingness to read and digest lots of paperwork, and a commitment to engaging in discussions about Ataxia UK’s priorities.
We accept nominations for Trustees elected in October. Please find a job description and further information for the role below; if you feel you or a friend fits our requirements, then you can nominate yourself/your friend through the application form. The deadline for sending in an application form is 15 July 2019.
