Where your money goes Ataxia UK aims to fundamentally improve the lives of people with ataxia, their families, carers and friends - whilst doing all we can to find a treatment and a cure. In 2014/15, our support helpline was able to provide care and support to a total of 1,981 people. Ataxia UK is there at critical time in people’s lives, particularly pre and post diagnosis and later in life when ataxia makes life very difficult. How we raised our money… With a lot of hard work and commitment, our supporters fundraised £344,958 last year. That’s £101,001 more than in 2013. Total amount of donations made in 2014 was £342,008. That’s more than £170,235 than in 2013. Does Ataxia UK receive any government funding? Ataxia UK is entirely funded by the money we raise. Some of it comes from trusts and grants, but most of it comes from the generosity of people like you, who make donations, raise money, and leave us gifts in their wills.How your donation can help... £1 prints a copy of The Ataxia magazine £15 sends out DVDs to 5 young people learning to cope with ataxia £80 prints 1000 information leaflets, raising awareness of ataxia £150 runs our helpline for a day, providing advocacy advice and welfare information £830 runs our extensive Branch Network for a week, offering help and friendship near to where people live £1,200 funds a junior researcher for a month, driving forward the search for treatments and cures £35,000 would pay for the complete running cost of our helpline.
