Get involved Fundraise for us At home and virtual fundraising ideas Virtual Running and Walking Events Our partner, RunForCharity, is offering a variety of virtual running and walking events that you can sign up to, including 5km and 10kms, half marathons, ultra runs, team runs and overseas events. Here are some of the different challenges on offer – which will one you take on? Climb Everest - A 12-week challenge perfect for self-isolation! Complete a climb equivalent to Mount Everest (8,848m) out and about during your daily exercise, climbing stairs indoors, or a combination of the two! Inca Trail – Tick this one off your bucket list by completing a 25-mile run, walk or jog. Team Gotham - Not all superheroes wear capes...some have to fight crime in isolation too! This 5km challenge is perfect for families who want to complete it together, or anyone looking to stay fit during lockdown. The Big Charity Run - The ultimate challenge; pick a 30, 60, 90 or 120-mile distance to complete over a single month. You can run, walk or cycle - perfect for setting an ambitious target and staying motivated! How it works Choose your virtual running or walking challenge on the RunForCharity website. Sign up and pay the registration fee (varies between £13-20) Set up an online fundraising page on JustGiving or VirginMoneyGiving, set your fundraising target and share with as many people as possible Complete your walk or run Upload your evidence – see below for guidance Put your feet up and wait for the postman to drop off your medal! Evidence submission: take a picture of your fitness tracker, app or any other device that can show you having completed your challenge and send it by email to [email protected] with your name, the name of your challenge and Ataxia UK. Daily written logs or a photo of you at the end of your challenge with your time and distance written on a piece of paper will also be accepted.
