For many years, Graham Fryatt has fundraised for Ataxia UK in support of his son Iain, another avid fundraiser and who has Friedreich’s ataxia. Together in 2014 they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with the support of an ataxia research specialist from Ataxia UK's Specialist Ataxia Centre in London, who consequentially discovered a link between FA symptoms and altitude. This has contributed enormously to ataxia research.

Familiar with the support that Ataxia UK offers, Graham wants to “give something back” to the charity by joining the Board and contributing his family’s knowledge of rehabilitation for FA; he hopes to learn more about other people’s experiences of ataxia in order to support the community as best he can. Graham and his partner Karen regularly fundraise for Ataxia UK by taking part in runs, triathlons and other challenges, demonstrating their dedication to supporting the cause.
