Ataxia East's next meeting will be our AGM at the Stanground Community Centre, Stanground, Peterborough. PE2 8QS on Saturday 6th April. Meeting at 2:00pm. The venue is fully wheelchair friendly. All welcome. Please let us know if you intend to come, we are laying on a buffet and need numbers to cater for. See You There
Ataxia East is a Branch of AUK that supports people with ataxia and their carers/partners/families.
We cover the counties of Eastern England. We have meetings in Peterborough, a great chance to meet other members. We also have many members who cannot attend meetings, but who stay in touch via email, visits etc. Our newsletter Contaxia goes to all our members at least four times a year.
We are a busy group with a dedicated committee. Members and committee get involved with fundraising events such as street collections, stalls at many different events, dances/discos and car boot sales. Members have done sponsored events - marathons, walks, cycle rides - raising an incredible amount of money for the group.
We also have events promoting awareness of our group and ataxia.
Our group is steadily growing and we have great social events like Christmas meals and summer barbeques. We also provide small grants for those members who are in need, as agreed by Committee and keeping within our budget.
