NEXT MEETING IPSWICH 30TH NOVEMBER
NEXT MEETING COLCHESTER 30th NOVEMBER - CHRISTMAS LUNCH
We had nice surprise for our October meeting.. they had set up an area near the bar rather than the usual coffee tables in reception area. It turned out to be slightly cramped as there were 15 of us but quite cosy too.
Those present were: Sheila, Dave, Colin, Tom, David, Jean, Eileen, Beryl, Gareth, Guy, Christine, Jenny, Ron, Shirley and me.
Em was packing ready for her move the next day, Nigel was recuperating in Tenerife having had plaster off his broken leg. Other apologies were received from those unable to attend and good wishes sent to you all.
Cant make it on Saturday, travelling to Norwich with Sally, as is the rest of the family to the visit the crematorium to disperse mother in laws ashes. Best Regards Jason
just back from the hospital, good news moved to a boot, can now walk, very very gingerly! Nigel
Sheila has now had her boot removed and says it’s a great relief. She broke her leg in April but now able to walk gingerly around their home. She has even used her walker to visit daughter and grandchildren just up the road.
I booked 20 places for Christmas lunch at Colchester venue and that has worked out well. Thank you to those attending for getting your menu choices to me in good time.
Colin has been to his first meeting of 5R’s course and says it was very interesting. Hopefully he will tell us more about it at the end.
Relax, rebuild, re-energise, re-integrate, re-generate
It was nice to see Tom as he hasn’t been able to make our meetings for a while. Tom is having his 70th birthday celebrations on 30th November so unable to make it to our Christmas lunch.
David and Jean are exploring all possibilities of mobility aides and driving again. We had three different rollators and two wheelchairs at the meeting and were able to compare pro’s and con’s. All agreed that rollators are very useful for carrying all sorts of things both personal and domestic. Eileen has a particularly useful model as it has 4 wheels making it stable and a seat but is smaller and lighter than most I have seen.
Em has now found a suitable apartment not too far from her present one but ground floor and more suited to her lifestyle. Unfortunately, she has to wait for BT to get her onto broadband again. Hmm..
Gareth has also found suitable accommodation which is specially designed for those with disabilities and hopes to move in quite soon.
Christine and Jenny’s brother is now living in same care home as Christine but has been found accommodation more suited to his needs. These three moves are all in Colchester.
I have sent a cheque to head office for rest of our fundraising. The collection boxes had £12.90. Our total for this year is £182.90 so far but I had a welcome email from Margaret Clowes and she is sending a cheque to further boost our total. I will let you know Margaret’s news in December newsletter.
Ron has asked me to get some pens to sell. A good suggestion which I will follow up.
Janice has been in touch but I will let her tell you all her news on 30th November as she and Martin are determined to be there.
Dianna phoned me to say, despite long deliberations she has decided not to challenge herself with the trip from Lowestoft to Colchester. It was nice to chat and hear about her successful Summer at the café. She escaped any serious damage during recent gales and still coping with driving to stay with her family in Hertfordshire.
I didn’t hear all of the discussions at our meeting so, if anyone has anything to share in our next newsletter, please let me know.
I am happy to say that I have been given an appointment to see Dr de Silva in Braintree on 11th November at 5.45pm. Not a good time traffic wise but far better than travelling to London.
Baz is looking forward to showing us his Puma 20 powerchair at the Christmas lunch.
My good wishes to you all, stay safe, Patsy
