Branch Meeting on Sat 21 September 2013
Saturday 21 September 2013 at our NEW venue. Everyone is welcome at our meetings. We meet every couple of months for regular branch meetings, plus one off events such as BBQs, boat trips etc. Everyone welcome! Looking for suggestions for social events next year.
An invitation to all Branch members, friends and families
As you may know, our next meeting will be held on Saturday 21 September 2013 from 1.30 - 4pm in our NEW venue - the brand-new, purpose built building housing Lasswade High School and a hub for all community events. It replaces the old Lasswade High School & Sports Centre and is adjacent to it on Eskdale Drive. Pete just visited and it is marvellous - he was shown round to choose the best room in which to hold our meetings. They will be in the community room on the ground floor - turn left through the main entrance. There's plenty of parking, including 15 spaces for blue badge holders at the front.
It's important that as many people as possible come along to this and all future meetings, where possible, to ensure the future of our branch.
The school website is a bit out of date but there are photos on the BBC news site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-22891134
The East of Scotland Branch meets several times a year at Lasswade High School Centre from 1.30 - 4pm on Saturdays. Our meetings are usually May (the AGM), September, November, January and March. We also have social events eg visit to Scottish Parliament, meals out, boat trips etc. Everyone is welcome at our meetings and we usually have a speaker but always have a good laugh and a chat.
Visit our website www.ataxia-east-scotland.org.uk for more information, photos, useful links etc.You can also email us at email@example.com or telephone (see below). We can add you to our email or postal mailing list.
Here's a picture from a branch meeting, with Calum Pringle showing us his design 'Subtle Subtitles' an iPod app to help people (especially strangers) to understand ataxians who have difficulty with their speech. Calum's Mum has late-onset CA and is already having great success using the prototype.
