Ataxia UK Northern Ireland support group

It's good to talk!

Stormont visit

On 17th September 2011 the support group met for a tour round the parliament building at Stormont. Despite a slight mix up with the booking we were able to get our tour but unfortunately we were unable to get tea/coffee and biscuits that were ordered. We are pictured at the bottom of the stairs in the Great Hall below the statue of James Craig, N. Irelands first Prime Minister.

Our next event will be Christmas lunch at the Glenavon House Hotel, Drum Rd., Cookstown on Saturday 3rd December 2011 @ 12.30pm. £15.25 for Christmas fare or £12.50 for a carvery, if you are interested in attending please contact Alex by email or phone (details below). Where has the year gone?

 Royal College of Nursing

On Monday 17th October 2011 Ciaran McLarnon (pictured) and Alex Duncan manned an informaton table at a Rare Diseases event in the Royal College of Nursing, Lisburn Rd., Belfast. There were about 50 people in attendance at this event and was therefore a great opportunity to spread the word about Ataxia and Ataxia UK.

On Wednesday 19th October 2011 the Public Health Agency held a workshop at the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre in Cookstown. This was the next process in the development of a Neurological Conditions Network established with funding of £50,000 from the previous Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey. Marie Campbell from Cookstown attended representing Ataxia UK.

On Saturday 4th December 2010 nine of us met up for our Christmas lunch at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim, see the photograph below. It was a lovely event , well done to everyone for attending despite the terrible weather!
