28 March 2006 - Ataxia UK Branches Out

Tina Thatcher, formerly Development Officer for the Community Empowerment Network in Walsall in the West Midlands has been appointed to the newly created position of Branch Support and Development Officer at Ataxia UK. Tina has been employed in the third sector for over 15 years, working with many diverse groups across the Midlands.

The post was made possible by the largest grant ever awarded to Ataxia UK: £187,087 from the Big Lottery Fund awarded at the end of 2005.

Tina commented: “I am really excited to be working for Ataxia UK, a charity that has so much potential for development and growth. I am looking forward to the challenge of supporting the existing branches and groups and developing other branches across the UK. As so many people have never seen ataxia and its symptoms, improved branch activity should increase the source of local support for families affected by ataxia and in the process raise the awareness of the ataxias.”
