Young Ataxia UK
This section is for young people affected by ataxia:
- if you have ataxia
- if your mum or dad has ataxia
- if your brother or sister has ataxia
- if your friend has ataxia
It is mainly written by and for 14 – 18 year olds but you might also find these pages useful if you are a little younger or older.
You may never have heard of ‘ataxia’ before; it may feel as if you are the only person in the world who has ever had ataxia; but you are not alone.
When I was diagnosed 14 years ago you were lucky to find a couple of short and very general references to ‘ataxia’ in medical books. We’re so lucky to have the internet these days. Katie
FACT: ataxia comes from the Greek word ‘a’ – absence of + ‘taxis’ - order
