Accredited Ataxia Centres
The cerebellar ataxias are rare conditions. So ‘one stop’ access to services and the latest information on research developments, as well as skilled, sensitive advisors, is vitally important.
The London Ataxia Centre, at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, was accredited in 2005 and the Sheffield Ataxia Centre, at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, in 2007.

Criteria
What is necessary to become one of our Accredited Ataxia Centres of Excellence?
We first consulted people affected by ataxia, then leading neurologists. From these discussions, we developed the criteria for Ataxia Centre of Excellence, as accredited by Ataxia UK.
Some Centres may already have such standards in place. Others need to add to the services they currently provide.
