Apply for funding
Ataxia UK will provide funding for innovative and relevant research that fits into an explicit therapeutic strategy. This does not exclude the advancement of scientific knowledge, but such an outcome would need to be clearly linked.
We will consider a variety of proposals, including:
- projects
- research studentships
- travel awards for researchers or students presenting at national/international conferences
- satellite meetings at major Symposia of other organisations dealing with related disorders (as a way of raising awareness and enhancing collaboration with researchers in these disciplines)
Selection process
The selection process involves two stages. Researchers are initially asked to submit a preliminary proposal (ie: one page summary of research). This is taken to Ataxia UK’s Scientific Advisory Committee who advises on whether to invite applicants to submit a full application. Applicants who are invited to submit a full application should complete an application form. These selected research projects are peer reviewed and assessed by Ataxia UK’s Scientific Advisory Committee.
Ataxia UK’s Scientific Advisory Committee meets 3 times a year (generally in February, June and September). This Committee advises Ataxia UK's Trustees who then make the final decision on whether to award a grant.
Call for proposals
Ataxia UK is launching a new PhD studentship fund. We are particularly interested in encouraging new promising scientists to start a career in ataxia research and would therefore welcome applications from researchers.
Research Fellowship
We are also able to offer a Research Fellowship designed to support researchers looking to establish a career in ataxia research.
Please contact the office for details.
