Accredited Ataxia Centres
The cerebellar ataxias are uncommon conditions. So ‘one stop’ access to services and the latest information on research developments, as well as a team of skilled, sensitive health professionals, is vitally important.
A network of Ataxia Centres around the UK was one of our very early ambitions. We are in the process of realising this ambition.
We accreditated the Ataxia Centre at Sheffield's Royal Hallamshire Hospital on 13 February 2007 and at London's National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in 2005.
We are now working to help more Centres achieve accreditation.

Criteria
What is necessary to become one of our Accredited Ataxia Centres of Excellence?
The criteria were carefully planned. We first consulted people affected by ataxia and then leading neurologists. From these discussions, we developed the criteria for Ataxia Centre of Excellence, as accredited by Ataxia UK.
Some Centres may already have such standards in place. Others need to add to the services they currently provide.
