International Ataxia Awareness Day

20 September 2012

On 25 September each year we ask our Friends to get involved and help spread the word about ataxia. Research carried out by Ataxia UK has shown that only 7% of the UK knows what ataxia is, even though it affects over 10,000 people in the UK.

International Ataxia Awareness Day (IAAD) is our opportunity to change this! To tell the world who we are, what we do and why we do it. It’s your chance to make a big difference!

You can raise awareness is a number of ways:

  • Wear Ataxia UK merchandise, be it a t-shirt, wristband or our brand new pin badge
  • Get your story in a local paper
  • Organise a fundraising event
  • Invite your friends and family to join our Facebook page
  • Tweet using our awareness hashtag  #IntlAtaxiaDay
  • Display our posters in a public place. (Please remember to get permission first!)
