Ataxia UK has opened a new internet forum for people with ataxia. The new forum is with Health Unlocked, an organisation which already works with other charities and health conditions to provide online community facilities. We hope that people will find it to be a valuable peer-to-peer online destination for people looking for information and support on ataxia. If you want to find out more about Health Unlocked, you can visit http://www.healthunlocked.com
Why another forum?
Ataxia UK has had an online forum for a number of years. But it is now becoming outdated. Updating this forum would be costly and consume significant resources whereas that offered to us by Health Unlocked is far superior and is free of charge. The format and presentation of Health Unlocked is simple, clear and fresh.
There are other social networking sites for people living with ataxia. Why has Ataxia UK not joined with them?
Despite the existence of other online networking sites Ataxia UK’s forum is still used. We would like to continue to provide an Ataxia UK-branded social networking facility. The main ways people interact on the site are through Blogs (thoughts and shared experiences), Questions (specific enquiries for which the community’s collective answers can help), and Polls (to be suggested by community members) on which people can vote and comment. All of this is probably better explained by visiting the community and seeing what it means for yourself. And you’d be more than welcome, of course, to register and have a look without committing yourself to a specific involvement.
